Terms

The terms for using Pebl.

Pebl is open source under Apache 2.0. It is a wellness companion, not a medical device. The rest of this page is the careful version of those two sentences.

License

Pebl is released under the Apache License, Version 2.0. The full text lives in the LICENSE file in the app repository.

In plain language: you can use Pebl for personal or commercial purposes, you can read the source, you can modify it, and you can redistribute it under the same license. Patent and trademark rights are addressed in the license text.

Pebl is a wellness companion, not a medical device

Pebl suggests stretches, breathing, posture changes, hydration, and gentle resets. These are general wellness suggestions for healthy adults at a desk. They are not personalized medical advice and they are not a substitute for a licensed clinician.

If you have a medical condition, are pregnant, are recovering from an injury, or are unsure whether a movement is safe for you, talk to a licensed professional before acting on any tip. Pebl is not designed to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition.

If something hurts, stop. Pebl will be there in five minutes.

No warranty

Pebl is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that Pebl will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose. You use it at your own discretion and risk.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pebl and its contributors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption, arising out of or related to your use of the app.

Where liability cannot be excluded by law, our total aggregate liability is capped at the amount you paid for Pebl in the twelve months before the claim, or, for the free tier, zero.

Acceptable use

Use Pebl as a personal or workplace wellness tool. Do not reverse engineer it for malicious purposes. Do not interfere with the auto-updater channel, attempt to inject unsigned updates, or impersonate the release manifest.

These restrictions are about safety and integrity, not about studying the code. The code is open. Read it, fork it, learn from it.

Termination

You can stop using Pebl at any time by uninstalling it. Settings, then Delete all data, removes your local database first if you want a clean exit. We can suspend or stop providing the service for cause, including security incidents, abuse of the auto-updater, or to comply with law.

Privacy

How Pebl handles data is covered in the privacy policy at /privacy. The short version: data stays on your Mac unless you flip an opt-in switch.

Governing law

Governing law and venue: to be set per founder location. The current draft assumes a single jurisdiction will be selected before public general availability.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in the app and on this page before they take effect. The effective date below moves whenever the text changes.
